CRISAM GRC
Three million flights. 100 percent safety.
Anyone boarding a plane expects to arrive at their destination safely and on time. Air traffic controllers at DFS guarantee a smooth and uninterrupted flow of traffic on the skies and at airports: They control and monitor aircraft during takeoff and landing, as well as in the air, ensuring that they fly at the correct altitude on designated routes and maintain the required safety distances. DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH is a federally owned, privately organized company with approximately 5,600 employees (as of December 31, 2020). DFS ensures safe and punctual air traffic. Before 2020, its approximately 2,200 air traffic controllers guided up to 10,000 flights daily through German airspace, totaling more than three million flights per year. The company operates control centers in Langen, Bremen, Karlsruhe, and Munich, as well as towers at the 16 international airports in Germany. The subsidiary DFS Aviation Services GmbH markets air traffic control-related products and services and is responsible for air traffic control at nine German regional airports as well as at London Gatwick and Edinburgh airports. R. Eisenschmidt GmbH, another DFS subsidiary, distributes publications and products for general aviation, while Kaufbeuren ATM Training (KAT) trains military air traffic control personnel. Since 2016, DFS has been working on integrating drones into air traffic and has established the joint venture Droniq GmbH with Deutsche Telekom.
